The Colourful Life Of Ocean Shores Arts Expo.
Entries have poured in for the Ocean Shores Arts Expo to be held at the OS Community Centre from Friday 8th - Sunday 10th August. Registrar Maggie Golightly is amazed at the response. "It's the biggest ever.. We have about 180 entries, up by 60 from last year. This is exciting for buyers. There are a lot of people, residents and tourists, wanting local original art for homes, work spaces and as gifts. The Expo is a great place to acquire quality affordable art and sculpture."
The Opening Launch Party is on Friday at 7 pm. Everyone's welcome. For just $10 there are drinks and nibbles with ambient music, a chance to meet artists and art lovers, check out art and sculpture, and hear the announcement of winners. The judges this year are Lorraine Abernethy, renowned exhibiting artist, TAFE teacher and art therapist from Kingscliff, and Fiona Fells, artist and head lecturer in Ceramics at Southern Cross Uni, Lismore.
Over the weekend from 10 am - 4 pm each day ($3 entry), there are art
demonstrations, the long-awaited Black and White History presentation,
kids art, hands-on community art, great blues/jazz/soul music and the
Artists' Cafe. Major sponsors are TAFE Murwillumbah, Sochacki
Solicitors and the local Lions branch. Enquiries 6680 2085.
