HISTORY SPELLED OUT IN BLACK AND WHITE

There are only 4 weeks to go! Entry forms to the Ocean Shores Arts Expo '08 need to be in by 18th July. This is one of the biggest community art shows in the Byron Shire, inspired and run by a creative group of locals who volunteer time and skills to put on this fantastic annual arts event. The Expo is now a fixture in the Arts calendar. This is the 5th year and it's getting better all the time. Over the weekend of 8th - 10th August the artists, art-lovers and art-buyers mingle for ideas, discussion, demonstrations, inspiration and sales. Many people have said that this community-run show is an excellent place to see and buy affordable quality local art as there is a huge range of artistic styles and prices. Registrar Maggie Golightly is confident that '08 will see at least as many as last year's entries of 130 works. "Helping with the hanging of works last year was dramatic! At one point we completely, totally ran out of space. We sat for a cuppa and brainstorm. I caught Ri's eye, and simultaneously, our heads turned up. That's it! We both realized, 'Let's go up!' For the first time, we had some of the bigger paintings hanging above doorways and others suspended from the ceiling by fishing wire. It looked great!" Murwillumbah TAFE have become major sponsors. Businesses and supporters of the Arts can contact Sue Knight on 66802111 to give funding support however big or small to this premier art event. Funds are needed to rent the Community Centre for this non-profit event, and to give prize money in all adult's and kid's sections. Artists can get entry forms and information on this Lion's project Art show on www.osartexpo.com
