Schools and the Art Expo!

The Ocean Shores Arts Expo encourages participation from school students, they are an important part of why we are here.

It is widely recognized that art offers significant learning and self-awareness skills, as well as the opportunity to be innovative, experimental and playful. This can overflow to any area of learning, from math to music to physics. With this in mind, the Ocean Shores Arts Expo has always included an entire young people’s art show with prizes.

As adults we quite easily get caught up in busy-ness and forget the importance of play, creativity and inner reflection. Cultures that have art and craft as a part of everyday life tend to be more balanced. Through showing young people that art is important to health, happiness and innovation in any field, they are more inclined to carry this into adult life.

We see year after year an increasing participation from many schools in the area. It works like this: the school holds the first stage of the competition within the school where all kids may enter. Then several artworks from each grade are hung at the Expo for final judging. But, you know what? We think every artwork is worth the experience for the one who created it. We are just sorry that we can’t fit them all on the wall space.

Participation is open for all years 1 - 12 and if you would like to talk to our schools participation team please use the contact information on the "contact us" page.
