Our aims in organizing the Arts Expo.

  • To provide an opportunity for the Greater Ocean Shores Community Members to participate in a local cultural event and to identify themselves as part of the local community. To encourage an evolving sense of community in the Greater Ocean Shores.
  • To provide an opportunity for Artists of all ages to participate in a local art show, and for historians to teach and learn of the local area.
  • To highlight and celebrate the natural environment of the whole Brunswick Valley.
  • To provide some important historical perspectives for the Greater Ocean Shores Community.

This year is the 8th annual Art and History Expo in Ocean Shores. During the years we have seen the Expo grow from small beginnings and are delighted that a local grassroots initiative has been well received and supported by the community.

We feel our aims are being fulfilled every time the art entries pour in; when we see fear turn to joy when a novice tries a few dabs on the community painting, when a beginner receives an award, when old and young gather at the café to chat, when people celebrate their art, their history and connectedness.

Opening night on Friday will begin with a Welcome to Country by a local Aboriginal representative. Snacks, wine and live music performed by local musicians will provide a creative ambience for guests to view the artworks. The presentation of awards and the judges' commentaries are a highlight of the evening.

Over the weekend as well as the opportunity to view and buy quality local art, there will be art demonstrations, free music performances, co-operative art projects, and a Historical program by Frank Mills.

Coffee, tea and snacks are served all day at our Artists Cafe.

Afternoon guests in the Ocean Shores Community Centre sit in to Ri Frasers demo.
