Ocean Shores Arts Expo

Our aims in organizing the Expo in 2008

  • To provide an opportunity for the Ocean Shores Community Members to participate in a local cultural event and to identify themselves as part of the local community. To encourage an evolving sense of community in Greater Ocean Shores.
  • To provide an opportunity for Artists of all ages to participate in a local art show, and for historians to teach and learn of the local area.
  • To highlight and celebrate the natural environment of the whole Brunswick Valley.
  • To provide some important historical perspectives for the Ocean Shores Community.

This is the 5th annual Arts and History Expo in Ocean Shores, this year we are introducing a 5th category of "Sculpture".

Building on our success last year we have an even bigger organizing committee working towards opening night on the 8th of August, 2008.

In the spirit of the '08 theme, 'Belonging', opening night on Friday August 8th will begin with a Welcome to Country by local Aboriginal representatives. Food, wine and live music performed by local musicians will provide a creative ambience for guests to view the artworks. The presentation of awards and the judges' commentaries are a highlight of the evening.

Over the weekend of the 9th and 10th August as well as the opportunity to view and buy quality local art, there will be art demonstrations, free music performances, co-operative art projects, and a unique history presentation of black and white history in the Brunswick Valley by Frank Mills and Lauren Jarrett. Coffee, tea and snacks are served all day at our Artists Cafe.

Afternoon guest sit in to Ri Frasers demo.
